JOAO NEVES Film Director

Description


Joao was born in Portimao in the south of Portugal. He first studied Architecture for 3 years but then decided to pursuit his great passion for cinema.

After finishing a Directing course he started to work in a production company, first as a Production Assistant, and then as a freelance Assistant Director for six years. During this period he had the opportunity to work with a lot of international Directors from many continents, and he considers this period as a school and the most important time for his background experience.

Meanwhile he finishes a degree with specialization in Audiovisual and Multimedia at University of Communication Sciences, and starts to work as a Director. His first TVC for an advertising festival was very successful.

Since then he has worked not only for his maiden country but also abroad, allowing him to learn and exchange working experiences with other film professionals, agencies creatives and clients around the world. This has been giving him new and different perspectives on his profession and work..

As a Director what most interests him is being versatile and flexible to be able to work in different kind of genres, in order to bring the most of each script style and atmosphere.

His other passions are cinema, photography, traveling, riding bicycles, and spending time with family and friends. He has a Labrador dog called Dexter.
